Foreground Extraction from Multiple Images

We propose a novel foreground extraction method that automatically identifies image regions corresponding to a common space region seen from multiple cameras. We assume that background regions present some color coherence in each image and we exploit the spatial consistency constraint that several image pro jections of the same space region must satisfy.   More...

3D Object Modeling from Multiple Images

We propose a hardware-accelerated 3D modeling method for smooth visual hull reconstruction from silhouettes. The proposed method consists of two stages. In the first stage, we reconstruct a voxel model from a set of silhouettes and extract an iso-surface as a triangular mesh. In the second stage, the 3D mesh reconstructed in the first stage is iteratively deformed to be consistent with the silhouettes.   More...

Indoor Environment Modeling from Multiple 3D Range Data

We propose a panoramic mesh modeling method from multiple range data for indoor scene reconstruction. Our method considers occlusion between two adjacent views and it filters out invisible part of point cloud without any prior knowledge. While preserving the features of the scene, adaptive sampling reduces the size of resulting mesh model for practical usage.   More...

VR@Home: 3D User-Generated Contents Cretion Platform

In this research, we develop VR@Home, an immersive contents creation platform, and core technologies for it. Users can create 3D contents and merge 3D contents in virtual space with intuitive interaction. Even users can get into the virtual space and interact with virtual contents.   More...

Tangible User Interface for Table-top AR Applications

Current AR entertainment systems use markers to augment virtual objects on the markers that exist somewhere in real environment. The virtual objects are augmented only when the markers are visible from users¡¯ viewpoint. Users can occlude markers by their bodies during interaction. Even when one player does not occlude markers in his or her view, he or she may occlude the others¡¯ views.   More...

aPost-it

The proposed system uses augmented reality technique to retrieve information. By augmenting information on real scene, we can escape from small screen and there will be no limit of boundary of a rectangle. In addition, the proposed system provides personalized services too. The concept of combining AR and cPost-it can be applied to several fields....   More...
